While our family does not have many Christmas traditions (other than trying to keep everyone sane and in order) there is one that we absolutely love.
The best and only piece of marriage advice I ever happily accepted was this:
Wherever you go throughout the year, whether it’s a family vacation or a fun day trip somewhere, purchase a Christmas ornament.
There are ornaments from Mexico, the beach, fun day trips to local farms, craft fairs and more. Our favorite ornament is the cast that our son wore when he had reconstructive hand surgery at 18 months old. Hey, you can decorate a tree with anything!
When it comes time to put up the tree and decorate, we are able to take a trip down memory lane for the year that has passed and remember all of the fun memories we experienced together.
Our Christmas tree tells the story of our family.
And to me, that’s the best tradition there could be.
